Bronx judge sentenced a woman who robbed a 103-year-old woman to five years in prison on Thursday.
Sharon McNeil, 53, robbed and assaulted Louise Signore in her Bronx apartment building in April. McNeil made away with the victim’s two purses and shopping cart which contained two meals, $35, bingo cards, and a magnifying glass which Signore uses to read.
Signore was on her way home from a community center where she receives her meals when McNeil robbed her in her apartment building in Co-op City.
McNeil’s sentence also came with three years post release supervision. Judge Villegas had earlier offered McNeil a seven-and-a-half-year plea deal. “To me, she’s not all there” said McNeil’s attorney John Yu.
Despite the attack Signore, who lives by herself, said she will continue to go out. “I’ll go out, I won’t go out right away but I’m going to go out, this isn’t going to keep me from going out” she told reporters.
