Empty bookshelves line the walls at Shakespeare & Co.’s store on Hillel Place and Campus Road. The long-time bookseller found it’s impossible to compete with the digital world. Online retailers like Amazon cut into profits, and E-readers like the Kindle Fire stole eyeballs. Store managers tell Christian Colon, they could not hang on any longer.

Technology will change the way you dine at your favorite Applebees. The restaurant chain plans to add 100,000 tablets for customers to use when they order. It’s expected the tablets will pop up in about 1800 restaurants nationwide. Christine Alexis finds that servers are wary and afraid the technology will take their jobs. Restaurant customers, who haven’t tried the new method of ordering, are concerned about tech’s intrusion into their downtime.
