‘Sham’ Lawyer Is a Real Defendant

Former Coast Guard Petty Officer Kenneth Goldstein might have been fed up with supervising the shoe section of the department store in which he worked.

The 51-year-old Queens resident was arrested in August after having been caught impersonating a military lawyer in several jurisdictions, ranging from the Bronx to Monticello to Hempstead where he was caught in the act.

In the Long Island court appearance he showed up court bedecked with medals, “blathering like a fool,” according to published reports prompting an investigation into his credentials. He was there to defend a client who had been ticketed for catching an over-sized fish.

The Bronx case was adjourned on Thursday to December 10.

Furthermore, he allegedly claimed to be a part of the Judge Advocate General Corps, which allowed him to practice law in New York State.

Goldstein was arrested on Wednesday, August 26; his original arraignment was pushed back after he complained about his post-traumatic stress disorder.
