A Brooklyn gang member was sentenced on Thursday to 15 years in prison for charges of sexual assault and burglary in a Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment in 2012.

Derril Dyson, 21, was part of a gang with three others who in January 2012, forced their way into the victim’s apartment, tied up a man in a bathroom and sexually assaulted his female roommate at gunpoint.

Dyson is already serving a 10-year prison term for robbery and conspiracy in an unrelated case.

“This defendant and other gang members broke into a home, terrorized and brutalized the occupants, and repeatedly sexually assaulted an innocent woman at gunpoint while she was tied up and blindfolded,” a statement from the Brooklyn DA’s office said.

Assistant DA Michael Perkins asked for a 50- years prison term but the defense attorney argued for a lesser punishment say.

“[That’s] absurd, he did not kill anybody,” said the defense attorney before adding that his client was 17 at the time of the crime.

According to court testimony the gang used a 22-caliber revolver and knives to overpower the victims.

“They blindfolded them and tied their hands behind their backs, placing the man in the bathroom and the woman on a bed in her bedroom,” said the DA’s statement.

Prosecutors also said Dyson then demanded the PIN numbers of the victim’s credit and debit cards, went outside and withdraw over $1000.

“When he returned, the defendant orally sodomized the victim while she was tied up on the bed with a gun to her head, after two of his accomplices had already sodomized her,” the statement added.

Dyson’s accomplices and gang members who went by the name the Brower Boys, had already pleaded to similar charges.

Christopher Scott, 21, was sentenced to seven years in prison, Dezhaun Samuels, 22, 16 years, and the case against the third accomplice, who was 13 at the time of the incident, was adjudicated in Family Court.

Dyson’s mother disagreed with the verdict arguing her son was innocent. “My son’s (finger) print wasn’t on anything. He was not there,” she said.

On leaving the courtroom Dyson who had been silent, looked towards his mother and family members, blew a kiss and said, “I love you.”
