Loquacious Mayor Ignores Reporters

By JODI-ANN MALARBE

Mayor Bill De Blasio helped feed the celebrants of the Jewish New Year in Brooklyn on Thursday, but avoided feeding the maw of local reporters hungry for news and quotes from the failed presidential candidate.
De Blasio made a stop at the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Islands for its annual food pantry distribution before the Jewish holiday, Rosh Hashanah starting Monday.
The mayor helped distribute food and chatted amiably with staff and volunteers, among them Rabbi Moshe Wiener, JCC executive director who had invited de Blasio to the annual event. Wiener praised the mayor’s “very generous” concern for the Coney Island community.
His appearance at the event drew the local press corps who shouted questions at de Blasio but he ignored them.
